My first “failed“ assignment! For this school (Kyoiku Shuji), kana 8th-dan involves 4 assignments a month for 18 months. at the end of the course, I’ll redo any failed pieces until they pass. I‘m not discouraged (I expected a few fails; the grading is Particular and occasionally inscrutable)

Did some additional work on this with my teacher, and the first of these pics is the one I entered. The second is another poem I could have entered, but I preferred the first one.

I was trying to remember how I drew people when I was my little cousin’s age (4-5 years old). This is what I remember - potatoes with stick arms/legs, and big eyes. The first one, my cousin told me, IS me (so he added the glasses). The second is me goofily drawing Thom as a potato-person.
