After the vote, I took a breath. I did the opposite of “Seattle is Dying”—just joyful, everyday Seattle tourism activities with family visiting from North Carolina. What a beautiful and vibrant city we live in!

What gave me the most hope were the young people—some I’d never met—who showed up to testify on my behalf. As the mother of two teens (and as a former teenager), I know what it means for a teenager to spend a precious summer vacation afternoon to come testify at City Hall.
