Well, I've got a book coming out, and the cover has been revealed, so it's time to share the trope map (is that what it's called?).

It may difficult to read on a small screen, so I'm putting it in the alt text as well.

The book comes out on Monday and you can pre-order it here: mybook.to/GoneHome1

It'll change to rain later, but for now (04.15 am) it's looking quite nice.

Now that I'm settled for the day, I too should take part:

- The Tents in the Tattoos, by Becky James (most annoying MC ever, but still lovable)
- Brimstone; Witch Gold, by Justine Rosenberg (trippy psychedelic fantasy)
- The New Magic, by Joseph Malik (portal fantasy techno thriller)

My favorite epic fantasy starts out as a charming little slice-of-life portal fantasy, but The Wandering Inn, by @thewanderinginn.bsky.social , grows into something beyond the scope of pretty much anything I've read.

Totally unrelated picture for increased epicosity!

As an unrepentant @thewanderinginn.bsky.social fanboi, I'm well pleased at what showed up in the mail this morning.

Currently filled with mint leaves and steaming hot water (the steam doesn't show, you have to pretend it's there).

Happy Soupturday!

Today's soup is harira, and it, as always, delicious.

It's tempting to talk about my own books here, but...

Instead, I'd like to highlight the world as seen through the lens of @zzclaybourne.bsky.social in The Brothers Jetstream Universe.

Or that of @undyrk.bsky.social in Paternus.

Both settings draw on old myths and place them in modern times.

Favorites is always difficult, because they always change.
A story that's stuck with me for a long time and that I have fond memories of is Falling Through Stars, by Staci Olsen.

I make it no secret I'm a huge fan of The Wandering Inn, but to change things up a little, I will instead pick The Blood Scouts, by Phil Williams.
It's an excellent tale of a fantasy world gripped in something very similar to World War II.

Gig: Paradise Lost

I love going to shoes like this. Everyone is around my age or up, and it puts a lie to the myth that you need to be young to have fun.

And sure, there are youngsters there too, but so what?

Gig: Messa

Never heard of these guys before, and I only caught the last song, bit it was good enough I hurried down to the merch table to get a t-shirt so I'll remember to listen to them tomorrow.

A trip, you say?
Well, what more fitting a book than the strange and wonderful novella The Final Voyage of Avery Mothemere, by @whistberry.bsky.social

I reviewed the book here: www.readindiefantasy.com/book-recomme...

It may not have been a book for me, but I'm still happy to recommend it.
