I had similar difficulties updating to an RC version 2 weeks ago or so. I think it boiled down to the export of the recommended config messed up upstream. From what I understand, this should now be addressed: github.com/facebook/rea...

I watched it today. I really appreciated your argument about keeping your configuration lean. There’s so much in @neovim.io already that you don’t need plugins for — yet they exist.
