RTX hair is an actually a nice feature from NVIDIA.
As a modder who's worked with hair cards, the amount of verts and faces in just one characters hair these days can be quite a LOT and nightmarish on the engine and system running it due to the amount of tiny bits of 'alpha' cards to trace against.
