Clothing is not a trivial thing. It’s our imagined other self, our way of belonging to a subculture, a social class, a religion, an age group, or something else entirely.
Clothing is both the social glue that binds a community and the knife that divides it.

Working-class Americans now generally believe government to comprise two sorts of people: "politicians," who are blustering crooks and liars but can at least occasionally be voted out of office, and "bureaucrats," who are condescending elitists and almost impossible to uproot.

This and the joyful deployment of absurdity at ICE protests is reminding me of China Mieville’s “The Last Days of New Paris”, a novel in which the surrealists’ creations have been brought to life to fight the Nazis. Giant terrifying exquisite corpses roaming the streets, etc.

this is such a fantastic example of the transformative power of design when used collaboratively and intelligently. the visual design of this campaign is deep-rooted in history and culture and is thoughtful and beautiful
In particular Aneesh Bhoopathy, from the design coop Forge, who designed the identity. A brilliant reminder to *employ human creatives!*

Marxism, at least the mainstream Soviet version, was endless criticism with zero positivity. Like any eschatology, it promises something good only at the very end — a distant future for which you’re supposed to suffer right now.

"1984" is now extremist literature.
