Funny thing is that her list is based on this 5-0 where I accidentally won with 3 Phantasmal Images sideboarded; they are sort of useless. So she impressively cashed with a 72 card deck.

Unbanning Splinter Twin was a mistake.
The illusion that it was the best Modern deck ever, unjustly imprisoned on the ban list, was better than unbanning it and ruining its legacy by being utterly unplayable.

I don't expect Wizards to ban all the x/1 hate cards so I would appreciate they up the baseline toughness to cards like Mindspring Merfolk to a 1/2 otherwise it's unplayable. As a 1/2, I likely would play Mindspring across all formats because my options for a 1 drop Merfolk are incredibly low.

X/1 creatures need to be very high on power level or get immediate value to be competitive, which Mindspring Merfolk can't do as the ability is clunky and unlikely to be available in the first 5 turns of a game.

1 toughness creatures are gatekept out of the game by Bowmasters in addition to other 1 damage haymakers. But some x/1s do see play...
