Folks from Toronto can speak a bit more in depth, but from my observations, typical NIMBY complaints about crime and transient elements in neighbourhoods.

I mean, it's also the worst-kept secret in the world that the President also very likely abused children, but even if we hand-wave that away, Trump clearly has very poor taste in friends.

This isn't an academic take, but I think that I am firmly on the right side of history when I say that the President of the United States should not be someone who's consistently been shown to be in social circles with people who sexually abuse children.

Thank you for having me!!

I'll be lecturing during one of the weeks on Indigenous Geographies and will lead interns on some very fun and exciting on-the-land learning & research around climate change in Eastern Kansas.

This internship has been the highlight of my summer the last three years and I'm excited for year 4!

I know that most of her schtick is part of the tried and true right-wing academic grift of doing/saying outrageous things, getting cancelled for it, and then parlaying that into invited talks where you can yell about 'academic freedom, ' but sheesh.

One of these days, we will need to go for a run on campus!

This year will mark my 7th COVID vaccination, including boosters — neither my spouse nor I has gotten COVID yet, as far as I know.

It definitely is a fraught environment. I've definitely considered political climate in the applications I've sent out this job cycle...

Discomfort when speaking about structures of racism, colonialism, & hegemony is part of the process.

You won't unlearn structures of white supremacy by being comfortable and not having preconceived notions challenged.

That should not be conflated with the learning space being "unsafe".

I cannot imagine teaching an introductory Indigenous Studies class at IU, let alone some of the more upper-division courses that I teach within Indigenous studies/Indigenous geographies/Geography.

I could get reported for speaking on the very real genocide my people have faced.

Pure insanity.

This is the graphic that apparently was enough to justify an investigation under an Indiana state law that allows students to report faculty for not teaching "a diversity of viewpoints".

What diversity of viewpoints are there when it comes to white supremacy? Are we supposed to pretend it's good?

You certainly can!

My Anishinaabe clan is awazisii--bullhead, so I am rather partial to these fishy friends.

Fish clan people in Anishinaabe clan systems often serve as intellectuals and mediators, so it makes sense that I am an academic.

Modest honoraria are available--and the courses are online synchronous, so you don't have to come to Bemidji to lecture--you can do so from the warm comfort of your own home!

Emphasis on warm, because Bemidji gets quite cold in the winter. 🥶
