It happens, every few years or so 🙂

... Then remembered I had an old pair of glasses with the same frame. "Bring them in tomorrow and I'll swap the lenses over" she says. Took them in the next day, and walked out a few minutes later with a perfectly good pair of glasses again 🙂

Stood on my glasses at a festival last year. Spent a while bending them back as best as I could. Took them into Specsavers when I got home. Woman behind counter got them as straight as they could be, but still not ideal...

That's a good point. I have been fairly lucky in that respect 🙂

I've a feeling I eventually persuaded him we didn't need it by saying something like "I'm afraid there's no safe or reliable way of doing that", which was basically my standard code for "That's a ludicrous idea! Stop wanting that" 😂

About 20 years ago I was working for a website, & boss decided he wanted geolocation. I looked around & found one (which wasn't cheap). Sat at home in Sunny Buxton, I clicked on their demo link, which then cheerfully announced that I was, in fact, in New York City. I did not recommend it to the boss
