It's less the weight for the drones themselves than the gear needed to control them.

A lot of the EM environment is already pretty saturated & fiber optic control can literally only get you so far.

Helicopters are still incredibly useful for ASW, & during the speculative-future period we're taking about here, a LAMPS IV configured V-280 means everything with a helicopter deck has its own S-3.

I've seen this once or twice, a Coast or National Guard Jay/Blackhawk doing a night check ride out of Hanscom or Otis with an improperly configured transponder.
