Kakistocracy is a word we need to hardwire in our collective vernacular. That’s exactly what this is.

Get @marcelias.bsky.social and @democracydocket.com lined up to start helping with the inevitable recount process! Too close to call! And watch out for those sus middle-of-the-night “follow dumps.” I don’t think we’ll need Mike Pence for this one though…

First, is that a paddle boarder tie for his official photo? I’m all for sports & rec, but c’mon. Second, he looks like he just got caught at one of Matt Gaetz’s parties. Watch out truth tellers, he’s gonna try to come after us all.

We’re probably going to have to just settle for disagreeing on this one. I have a wholehearted disdain for the public persona that Jennings puts out there as a conservative pundit. My values don’t align with his, and I think he’s just awful. Your point is well taken though.

I’ll def check them out.

Scott Jennings has mastered the art of pointing out flaws in others’ logic while never owning his own. His arguments are deflectionary, his logic weak, and his track record shows him to be a consummate apologist for the wealthy and the right. In my opinion he shouldn’t be on an editorial board. 🤷

“Sides” is such a reductive and lazy way to frame this. I don’t blindly support everything someone on the left does, just like I hope you don’t for your ‘side.’ Pointing out hypocrisy isn’t whataboutism—it’s holding people to consistent standards.

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn is a great read too if you haven’t already.

Music: a lot of Amistat lately, Martin Sexton, Gabe Dixon, Greta Van Fleet, Lindsey Buckingham, I’m all over the place. Jon Batiste is a genius.

Love it! Pirsig’s Zen…Motorcycle Maintenance is a go-to for my existential and metaphysical questions. I’ve found myself curiously shifting away from Descartes and the “I think therefore I am” narrative, but still valuing the Cartesian duality of mind and body. Like, I’m more than my thoughts…

And yeah, finding a band is something I want to do too, even if it’s just to rehearse or workshop.

Nice!! I lived in Gold Country for a while, loved it, but CO is home. I have some friends in NC and they love it there too

One of the hardest parts of being an artist (IMO & experience) is replacing the torment of creating with admiration. Liking songs you wrote is huge! I’m still working on that

Stigma: man that’s a tough one. Stigma isn’t just in the eye of the beholder—it’s a choice. As more people own their truths unapologetically, the power of stigma weakens. Maybe it’s not obsolete yet, but it’s losing ground to a new narrative where authenticity outshines shame.

It has to be our time. I know you know this, but worth reminding: Philosophers were the beating heart of the Bohemian age, the ones who turned ideals into movements and questions into revolutions. In a time of resistance & reinvention they were the centerpieces of a world daring to dream differently
