based on the hit 2005 nintendo gamecube game "geist"
im just correcting the misinformation that epic pays the publisher per game claimed, because they do not. they pay a flat fee up front.

new game purchases are not "credited to the seller" of the free games an account claimed. the whole point of the program initially was to get people to make and use epic game store. if i make a new account and claim this game then i buy alan wake 2, jk rowling is not making any money from that lol

i can also explain why metro cost them zero dollars: it was a timed epic exclusive and they baked the cost into their exclusivity deal

you are looking at the buyout price, then how many people claimed it. then UA or user acquisition which is the buyout price divided by new accounts made. it literally says buyout price on this screenshot. also notice how the more expensive games are bigger games? because they pay more for those

"since developers get a flat fee from Epic so that Epic can offer their game for free, they make some money no matter what."
December 12, 2025 at 12:08 PM
they do it up front, it doesnt matter if you claim it or not

large language models are trained. the example you sent is still a version of AI its just programed to pick random things from a large set of options and wont be further trained, just like enemy npc AI. its just not the AI that is popularized right now that is trained on all inputs.

i havent seen anyone say that it is AI generated just that they hope none of it is based on the companies history which i think is a fine conclusion to draw
