Passionate about landscape spirituality, written books celebrating our built and natural heritage, including the guide Britain's Pilgrim Places. Faith inspired but disillusioned with institutions. Been a naturist all my adult life, happily open about it.
Agree with the sentiment, though it does sound a bit like that old Viz top tip:

SAVE money on doorbell batteries by removing them and simply popping to the door every two minutes to see if anyone is there.

True, but Annebella is a highly perceptive academic who has spent many years studying naturism, and knows plenty of naturists (including me!)
Her book Nudism in a Cold Climate, about the visual culture of naturism in Britain, is amazingly well written and researched.

Oh... maybe I did see him on Twitter back in the day, he looks very slightly familiar. Didn't see him involved in the naturist community however. Sorry to hear you got called names over this.

Never heard of him, but just looked him up and he's British apparently... He describes himself as a 'nudist' rather than a 'naturist' on his website, for what it's worth. I know the UK naturist community pretty well, and I don't think he's that connected or closely identified with us.

It's a shame his book Vivre Nu hasn't been published in English, to reach a wider audience. I don't know how difficult it would be to read in French, your summary on naturism Wiki sounds like it's very insightful. Or if it has been translated I can't find it!

Gosh, what is the academic paper? Sounds interesting, I'd like to take a look.

Yes, I was going to post that this might be more pronounced in US settings, but others have posted that. European naturism doesn't feel consumerist or elitist to me. Britain has no 'high-end' naturist venues. The poshest we have is the fairly reasonable Clover Spa hotel in... Birmingham!!!
