That new Nuremberg film is out, so thought I’d repost this #graphicrecording I did in 2017 of Ben Ferencz, Chief Prosecutor of the Nuremberg Trials at a #TeenVogue #TedTeen event in NYC. At the age he then was, 99, he spoke “with sorrow and with hope” and with extraordinary, passionate eloquence.

Really recommend the #Devo doc on #Netflix if you haven’t already seen it. Misunderstood and brilliant, they used satire and visuals with the same dexterity that they created great art rock and pop. They were way, way ahead of their time, as the #film, directed by Chris Smith, explores. #music

This says, “To be clear, I think using inflammatory language the way he does is almost an irrelevancy to him, in the same way that “free speech” absolutists feel like they can say what they want and not be held accountable for any consequences. I agree, he knows exactly what he’s doing. His racism is the creeping, class and status-based kind, appealing to the lowest and most extreme of human social impulses, but clothed in this broad, populist language that disguises his everyday othering as “honest debate.” There’s no high social purpose here. His racism is a means to an end, an othering of a political sort that is just a motor to get him where he wants to go. He is an utterly divisive, loathsome and cynical individual.”
