I think even for people who aren't artists, there are many who enjoy art as a human feat of skill and expression even if they are doing no art creation themselves. Even if AI art was better then human art, and it's not, no one gives a shit that a forklift can carry more then a weightlifter.

I think I get what you mean, but I'm not as concerned about the other endings- I guess I feel like the whole fundamental structure of "there is a whole act 3, but the game fully leads you to end play in act 2" combined with "you will not know how to get to act 3 unless you google it" is broken to me

mmm- for me it was deflating, the moment the MH Wilds credits rolled, I was out. I saw all the cool monsters, I fought them, everything after that felt like kinda weaker retreads of the things I already did!

I'm grumpy about it for sure, no insult is intended- but I just want Act 3 to flow naturally out of act 2 without a fake-out credits roll that kills the momentum in between

in the sense that the art itself is not being respected in its fullness, and compromise is being made with peoples' busted attention spans

I hear you, but I really do think there are other ways to skin this cat- like permanently accessible credits from the main menu. I just feel like it's a version of playing a tiny version of the trailer "don'tscrollawaylookatallthis!!" before the actual trailer starts- a kind of sad concession

I wish I felt the joy! My brain just dumps all its “let’s keep going!!” Once it sees credits

I just feel such a huge catharsis when I see credits & “the end” and- in the case of blue prince for instance- I was HYPED to keep going, I wanted more and I still had loads of questions, but the placement of the credits just took all the air out of the balloon for me and I struggled to get back in

This is a great answer!! Thanks for taking the time- I really feel like I learned 😅
I do wish that the natural shape “the art wants to be” (the ending goes at the end) was the way things got made, but it makes a lot of sense the way you laid it out

that feels kinda phoned in to me? like "we didn't have time to figure out how to weave this into the shape of the game, so we just put it all in a rummage pile at the end"

We have now ALSO watched The Birds! Which started off REAL strong and then in the final third just devolved into...kinda bullshit? much to consider
