That’s doable for folks who have the relevant knowledge but less experience - most applicants clogging the hiring inbox have neither. Hiring junior employees to train up to the bar over 1-2 years is not equivalent to hiring one person with the relevant skills who can contribute in 1-3 months.

That’s wonderful. It’s a tough lesson to learn that you can‘t change them or “make them better” despite a childhood of being conditioned to be their emotional salve. I’m so happy for you that your parents reflected and chose to change their relationship with you for the better

It's made it impossible to get hired or hire for a job. Every applications is "AI-optimized" to include keywords and pass the hiring system's "AI-ranking". The resume keywords get past filtering despite zero relevant education or experience. Out of 100s of apps, ~2-3% qualify when I manually review

Same dude. Everyone at work and family and friends (and me) have gotten some kind of viral illness in the past month. RSV, flu, sinus infection, more flu, hand/foot/mouth… surprisingly not COVID though that’s probably due to recent vax boosters 🤧🤢

Come on, it's been almost 20 years since US petroleum companies got to fabricate a war to pump up the defense and fossil fuel industries. They were getting bored. 😭

How long do you repeat things until you start to believe them? You're probably right that it's closer to Abramoff's "The Joke" www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...
Maybe the 20-somethings being recruited to disguise these initiatives are "true believers". I don't think the a16z crowd is though

Basically asked Grok "whitewash the network state", based on that headline. They're not even thoughtful - it's pure greed and disregard for society/humanity/other people

Under what authority? Goddamn the war on terror, from Bush through Obama through Trump and Biden for abject failure to follow American wartime constitutional law. Reminds me of a certain writer who said “we‘ve always been at war with Oceania”

we haven‘t had a government decision focused on helping most Americans since the ACA and the COVID cash supplements. The 80s-90s Dems bought into billionaire supply-side economics and forgot that most Americans want “Tippecanoe and Tyler too” style politics 🍻

It’s like they replaced a lovely if boring rules-based spellcheck tool with an LLM. What if tech companies only added GenAI to things when it makes them better? 🤯

what are Qatar's military interests in *checks notes* the Rocky Mountains and the PacNorthwest? Replenishing their strategic spud reserves? Securing the Edmonton Stampede in Alberta? Amphibious white water rafting?
