don't get me started on my earth genasi dwarf and earth genasi orc (georc for short)

we have several full elves and "regular" human/elves too, but there's something so amusing about making a character and being like "her mom is a triton but you know what her dad is...? an elf"

is the word elf looking weird to you now too?

anyway, we love elves at our table

and the elf half different elf is sun and moon mix so we call her an eclipse elf. she has adoptive twin siblings from the triton and her (you guessed it) half elf husband. the twins are mechanically half sea elves to keep it simple

the first tiefling & the triton have the same elf dad (who has another daughter but her mom was human).

the second elf/tiefling LOOKS like a half elf, their only tiefling feature is a nub tail, no horns

it's also funny cos like two sessions before the player was teasing like "i haven't taken any damage this campaign hehe"

i think I made up for it 😅😅

the player said he would have been okay with taking max damage (190 is INSANE), and accepted whatever would have happened but DAMN. that was fun.

I had them on edge twice tonight and being so sick rn I was not going into tonights game confident at all

we were laughing and cringing at the thought of all the pc's feeling the vibration as the shell hit what was essentially a solid metal wall. the loud TIIIIING and feeling the vibration in their teeth eeeuegh

i'm a WUSS and halved it, so the tortle only took 85 bludgeoning damage instead of the full 190 (it was quite a debate in my head before I decided last second)

the 190 wouldn't have one shot him but he would've been rolling death saves and I'm not ready to possibly kill a PC yet LOL

so as the tortle is being thrown, the guardian awakens and blocks the attack with its giant metal axe, dealing the damage to the tortle instead.

the tortle already previously took damage, and only had a max of 115 (i didn't know until later, I trust my players to be honest with their sheets)

natural 20. we play with the rule that you take the max on the first roll (6x20=120) plus whatever you rolled on the second (70)

190 bludgeoning damage to the boss.

HOWEVER.

they didn't know the boss had a shield guardian that was going to awaken and protect him.
