A Fleetwood Mac song was played at our wedding (G being slightly younger than us and loves them) and I could not name it or hum it to you.

I think what you are missing, understandably if you don't read it, is that the FT is reliably a very, very drily funny newspaper.

That was such a strength of Breaking Bad in particular. At times, it felt utterly loose and gonzo. Its confidence was almost appalling, compared to how fussed over something contemporaneous like Mad Men was.

But clearly this is easy for me to say! All I know is those people make me sick and in my mind it's not to do with their politics, it's to do with their morality.

Similarly I think we somehow need to detach racism from being a right-wing view (which, there are some right-wing views that while I disagree with, are perfectly valid) and re-establish it as an abhorrent, inhuman, uncivilised one that is outside the political dimension and inside the moral one.

I think the left-right framing tends to be unhelpful because it encourages tribalism. The reason to not vote for Johnson wasn't that he was right-wing, it was that he was a habitual liar, grossly self-interested, incompetent, repeatedly sacked from jobs and an extremely bad person.

Oh, absolutely, it was a cheap shot, but Lancaster always brings it to mind for me!

If this were Twitter or Reddit, someone would then ask: "Ah, but aren't most of those in London?" and I would take great delight in replying: "No, London's homicide rate is falling and the city accounts for about a fifth of the UK's total, which is in line with its proportion of the population."

Wherever we looked for the prominent flaggers and leaders of this movement, we found people smugglers and sex doll salesmen, people with dubious criminal pasts and people willing to put in a good word for Adolf Hitler.

Nigel Farage says this summer’s movement was led by ‘ordinary people’ expressing their patriotism. That’s not what we found

I love this mechanic, and I've run eight sessions or Mothership and it's never come up once. Characters have died, and that's been fun, but it's always been in situations where survival is literally impossible. Mothership modules are incredible, best in class, but the system is barely there tbh.

I'm not sure they've got the money and will be looking for new funding. I do wonder if the brief to RTD for 2026 is to leave it in a better place. Either establish Piper's Doctor or refocus to Tennant's so there is an incumbent. And then review both funding and creative approach.

For me it's disappointment not hate. I generally think I'm a good judge of character and if nothing else I thought he was a decent person, which we sorely needed in a PM. Various things have made me doubt that in the last year, which erodes trust.
