D&D is great, but I highly recommend starting off with something geared towards kids/beginners. As a mom and TTRPG youth club leader, I've found Hero Kids is a great way to get started with the general concept.

There are hundreds of others to jump into once you all get a taste for TTRPGs. Enjoy!
