Always thinking about parking
The Concerned Citizens of San Mateo page has posts that seem very oddly similar to posts on San Mateo Residents Speak -- which mysteriously disappeared one day.

Regardless, I love this current scandal about not providing a SCALE MODEL.

SCALE MODEL!!!!

"Jessica obviously you are not a homeowner or just bought and hate your neighbors who have lower taxes that’s you. Before prop 13 people had to leave the area because of tax yearly increases"

Oh damn! You hate your neighbors if you hate Prop 13!!!

I think California street has already been destroyed given that's what the view looks like across the street.

Lydia Kou also just recently wrote this glowing endorsement of Rishi Kumar for Santa Clara County assessor saying that "Public trust in government isn't maintained through slogans"

Rishi Kumar, of course, is running on the very sophisticated platform of "EXEMPT SENIORS FROM PROPERTY TAXES"

I guess the LA City Attorney forgot that her city spends $1 billion a year in dealing with homelessness, and has 43,699 homeless people.

I dunno... maybe SB79 could result in savings?

"better yet, provide greater capital gains exemptions for seniors, which would encourage them to sell single family homes. Greater inventory = lower prices."

As a reminder, there's already a $500K capital gains exemption. But what if you have $1.5M in gainz? How is it fair you have to pay taxes?!

Fun fact: Cupertino Nextdoor, instead of acknowledging the fact that the median home price of $2.7M, blames the loss of enrollment on WOKE LEFTIST public schools - driving away parents who want MATH.

Also in Cupertino, a parent told the district to send teachers back into the closet:

Housing in Palo Alto is unaffordable. The median home price is $3.5M.

Some might fight to change government to make it easier to add more housing so that prices will go down. (Supply)

But I suppose another approach would be to talk to Zuck's wife about not buying any more homes. (Demand)

"The proposal relies on neighbors for enforcement, leaving it up to another homeowner or tenant living within 500 feet to file a lawsuit."

This is like the perfect local politician proposal for a retiree neighborhood. If I were NextDoor dot com, I'd be sponsoring this kind of legislation!

"Any construction project expected to last more than 180 days would need a detailed daily schedule of construction work to prove it can be conducted without double-parking vehicles or blocking driveways or bike lanes."

lol. RIP apartment construction projects in Palo Alto.

The inequity?

How is it fair that I can only afford 1 home in Palo Alto and 1 cabin in Tahoe and 1 condo in Maui, while these RICH ASSHOLES can buy up 10 homes in Palo Alto, and a Hawaii Island? How will my kids buy a house in Palo Alto?!

STOP THE BILLIONAIRES!!!
December 18, 2025 at 3:57 PM
Here's where the bullshit really comes into play:

People of Palo Alto (median home value $3.5M): BAN APT BUILDINGS! We can't fit more people! There's not enough street parking! Traffic!! NO GROWTH!!

Also people of Palo Alto: Ban billionaires from buying multiple homes! What about INEQUITY? /1
December 18, 2025 at 3:55 PM
Read what this city councilmember wants to do.

Sure, you don't like Zuck. So yeah! Ban construction equipment and delivery trucks from "taking over the streets"! Hell yeah!

What does that mean tho? And what happens when a developer wants to build an apartment building in Palo Alto?

🤔🤔🤔

The key to understanding this battle against Zuck in Palo Alto is this quote from a few years ago: /1

I asked AI to generate 10 engagement maximizing debate prompts for a Generic American Suburb on NextDoor... and honestly, besides the Property Tax one (lol) - it really goes to show how we are one nation, united in blocking change, dreading low income housing, and complaining about traffic! 🇺🇸
December 18, 2025 at 5:08 AM
For fun, I asked AI to create 10 NextDoor engagement maximizing debate prompts for Palo Alto vs Princeton.

They're pretty similar!

"We don't want this eye sore and the ghetto poor people it'll bring with it"

"Scum bag yimby’s pushing ghettoification of the neighborhood in order to force residents to sell and leave"

Thank you for the refreshing honesty of this comment about a 7 story apt building replacing a liquor store!

I 100% agree that every human deserves a good quality home... like this one... but oops would you look at that? My town doesn't have land for any more of them because of the 1 acre zoning minimum. But you know what? Let's team up to ban PRIVATE EQUITY, CORPORATIONS, and BILLIONAIRES. That'll do it!
December 17, 2025 at 11:09 PM
This is one of those good intentions that immediately becomes weaponized to ban SROs, apartments, and any form of housing that existing residents don't like.

Ah yes... Harvard's humanities professors, writers rooms in Hollywood, the Atlantic's editorial desk... these are the jobs people think of when they think AMERICA

I’m going to have a stroke!!!

“Public trust in government isn’t maintained through slogans … The Democratic Party can only remain strong when it listens to fearless voices — and one such voice is Rishi Kumar.“

JFC!! What is this garbage!!

Kumar’s whole campaign is a slogan: Exempt Senior Citizens from Paying Property Taxes!
