The morning commute on I-79 was a crawl for some drivers because a cow was in the median. After a couple hours, the cow was taken to safety. It made for a laugh for several drivers.

Pittsburgh Police continue to investigate after a stabbing injured 3 students at Carrick High School. A 16-year-old was taken into custody by police.

Changes are coming to the Parkway East. The Squirrel Hill interchange will get a whole new design. The hope is to alleviate the current traffic mess. It’s planned to tentatively start in 2029.

The Pittsburgh area is one step closer to Wegmans moving in. Cranberry Township leaders approved for the developers to start doing the work to get the store built. It’s expected to open in 2027 and bring about 500 jobs.

The Allegheny County Health Department is advising people within 1 mile of the Clairton plant to remain indoors, close all windows and doors, set HVAC to recirculate, and use exhaust fans.

The Parkway East will have a full closure from Squirrel Hill to Edgewood/Swissvale. It will run from Saturday night to Monday morning. We have the detours and advice from PennDOT.

The Bucco Brick saga continues. The #Pirates have said about 3,000 people requested their replica brick. Those are starting to arrive. Brick owners say this is what they wanted. It’s a way to keep their memories preserved.

We learned of some concerns with the traffic lights at the new I70/SR 51 interchange. People told us they were causing some delays. We reached out to PennDOT and learned the timing issues have been fixed. The lights should be working.

The #Pirates announced the replacement for the Bucco Brick display outside PNC Park. They will use 60 bronze plaques to display the 10,000 messages. The team plans to have them installed by opening day next year. #KDKA

We are learning about the results from the Sports and Exhibition Authority’s feasibility study about having a #WNBA team in our region. #Pittsburgh was not selected as an expansion city last week. There are still ways it could be in the running in the future.

A new chaperone policy started at Ormsby Pool on the city’s South Side. The park’s and rec director says there’s been incidents that are distracting to lifeguards. The new policy says people under 15 need to have a chaperone that’s 21 or older.

The heat is intense enough that it has caused at least one local road to melt, according to drivers. PennDOT says the heat mixed with bigger trucks has caused parts to rip up. They say they addressed the issue and are looking at long term fixes.

The #heatwave and direct sunlight can turn outside objects into a hazard. Some of this playground equipment can quickly become 130-150 degrees. Doctors say this can lead to contact burns if people are not careful.

The deal is done with #USSteel and #Nippon. The deal says there will be investments made in the Mon Valley and protections over production. Mon Valley leaders are praising it. Union leaders still want their concerns addressed.
