It was his very first game as coach. I don't think he's a great hire, but one can argue given NW's limitations that he fared pretty well.

I thought earlier in the season they threw the towel in a few times or were lost to confusion. It was impressive to me how hard they played after a brutal season. I would have felt cursed. I wonder if Smith continues if this momentum continues. The best players on this team like him.

Smith's problem has been getting players (earlier in the season) dialed in and fighting. Beyond that, there were huge d/o line deficits. Smith, Lindgren, and Rossi can coach, but they didn't recruit well or adjust to the realities of the portal. Fitzgerald is a good motivator and hard ass, okay dfnz
