Actually unfortunately community versions of open source focus more on new features than bug fixes. Especially security fixes.

One has to design and build apps assuming the underlying infrastructure will fail. There is a whole discipline for this: Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

I always follow Starfleet specification: Triple-redundant backup systems. ;-)
