The enemy has working pathfinding and can attack/kill you. Also added lootable chests (for now they only contain torches).

I managed to build the first player base: basic controls, a health/injury system (right now you can only break your legs and die), an inventory, and dynamic lighting based on a torch that gradually runs out.

(The fonts, 3D models, and pixelation shader aren’t mine, I’ll share the credits later.)

I’m currently busy with tomorrow’s launch, but as soon as I can, I’ll share what I worked on yesterday. Really pleased with it, it was a productive day.
Also, from the little I managed to check out, I liked some of the latest improvements in the new Godot version.

Guess it’s time to check out what’s new in Godot 4.4 👀

Brain: A day off??? GREAT! We could go outside, get some vitamin D, pick up the violin and relax for a bi...

Intrusive thought: We need to make a first-person survival horror… RIGHT NOW.

Altísimo juegardo pero creo que merece la pena aguantar a que lo rebajen.

In the near future, I plan to run a GameJam based on ideas that come up here, with the community, and share the project’s GitHub for anyone who wants to learn Godot from scratch. So feel free to ask me anything or suggest what content you’d find interesting.

This isn’t the best example, since the developers heavily modified the engine’s code (it’s open source). But still, this was made with Godot 3.

Yeah, I can smell the book from here, great job!

You can make 3D projects without any problem and even though it’s often associated with 2D, in my opinion it’s also better than Unity when it comes to 3D development.

Open source, completely free, with no payments of any kind.
Totally fair, if you’re already comfortable working with Ren’Py, there’s no need to change.
But if you ever feel like trying something new in the future, I’d definitely recommend it.

Personally, I’d really recommend Godot, no matter the type of project. It’s super efficient, especially for solo devs or small teams, and even more so if you’ve got some programming background

Sound nice! Ren’Py isn't usually the first engine that comes to mind for RPGs — what’s been your experience so far?

I don’t have much to show right now, but a couple of weeks ago I made a small prototype in that style too.
