I reached the "end" of NCIS, and last night restarted with season 1, episode 1. That's what I'll be watching tonight as well. That's how much I'm not watching Palpatine the Peace god tell us we're invading South America for no reason. This timeline is idiotic.

Waiting for the council to send Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to Venezuela to end the blockade and prevent the impending war. Probably won't work this time either. Sigh.

Oh, so hacked server. Disabled its network port on the switch. Booted using IPMI. Configured network to not see the world. Reopened port. Copied public key from a 20-ish TB "scratch" server, blah blah, now copying 2TB of /home data. Will reformat afterwards. I'll clamscan the /home stuff. 1/2

We had a GPU server get hacked. Russian ransomware. Encrypts files and gives them a (get this!) ".maga" extension. (But it happened inside a Docker container, so little damage). My daughter is very nonplussed. Thought her dad fighting Russian hackers would be more exciting.

This morning I'll be writing up an explanation for campus purchasing on why the least expensive server option that we've chosen is the better option than the two that are twice as expensive. I can't make this shit up. "Explanation: It's cheaper." Absolutely ridiculous.

The day off helped. I have some clarity now. And I know my next steps. I haven't been assimilated to civil service yet -- I'm still an AP. Time for some research and a meeting with my boss.

I pretty much single-handedly cleaned out our old server room to make way for our last systems office, and after saying where I wanted my desk to be was thwarted by our team bully who insisted they "needed" to be by the window. I'm tired of being thwarted. It's not fair, and I hate saying that.
