The irony is that Somalia was cheered by US conservatives for creating a hardcore libertarian system. The others are democratic socialist of course. When he warns of turning us into Somalia, it’s actually the GOP who’s doing it. The refugees came here to try to escape the hell of libertarianism.
Somalia may continue to embrace libertarian principles
Since people would individually and voluntarily agree to such rules, they would not be giving up their rights but simply agreeing to the rules of a community that they would be free to leave. ...

Weekend at Bernie’s to keep the looting of our country by the international jet set going strong. Say goodbye to hundreds of billions if not trillions in Americans’ generational wealth, while Trump drools on himself.

I intuitively recoil from framing everything in terms of “working families” and “taxpayers.” People who prioritize living over slaving deserve every bit as much respect and security.

Don’t give him too much credit. He doesn’t know what’s going on or why things are happening. His team is in a total freak out about him constantly losing consciousness in the middle of work, as they should be… as we all should be. It’s not sleep. He’s passing out because his brain is dying.

It’s gonna get worse after Xmas because companies have depleted their pre-tariff stocks and have already signaled they’re going to raise prices yet again in the new year. So on top of the price gauging, now they’re going to tack on their real added costs. Buckle up.

They’re just flat out lying about the Dems’ 3 year subsidy extension proposal. Those always went to the insurance companies, but in the law it requires ALL of the money to go back to us in the form of lower premiums. A one time $2,000 payment would be a huge ripoff over 3 years and the GOP knows it.

American football is the slowest sport with the least amount of actual playing time per match (only 5.7%). Slower than baseball (10.2%). It’s a terribly designed game, more akin to exploitation than a legitimate sport (due to CTE). Soccer is one of the most fluid, action-packed sports (50.9%).
The actual playing time of sports
A football game takes over 3 hours but only has 11 minutes of action. That’s wild.

People really should be talking more about how the GOP and Fox are word for word copying their Iraq War arguments for their new war in Venezuela: “It’ll be easy, they have terrorists connections, drugs are chemical WMD’s, there’s a ton of oil, spread democracy, regime change, he’s a dictator, etc.”

Congress clearly needs to pass a law (or even an amendment if necessary) making it illegal to mis-use the pardon power as a transactional scheme or to shield oneself from scandal.

Supreme Court seems set to overturn Humphrey’s Executor, expanding the unitary executive conservatives used to oppose and allowing presidents to fire all previously independent heads of agencies like the Fed. But therefore, a Democratic president could erase Trump’s legacy in that respect.

Eliminating the pardon power would go a very long way towards curbing a lot of the worst behavior in government. I personally 100% support eliminating it. The good it does isn’t worth the destruction it underwrites. This is a small fix that would pay huge dividends for our democracy IMO.

The polling on these killings has flipped and they’re now unpopular. There’s no excuse not to finally hold leaders accountable. We let Bush/Cheney get away with blaming the troops after they ordered them to do terrible things. That can’t happen again or the crimes will continue to get worse.

Mass migration will be an inevitable part of the destabilization in areas hardest hit by climate change. It already is. Even Texans like Elon will likely be mass migrating north by 2060, destabilizing blue states. It’s just life now. Strong redundant social safety nets are the only real solution.

I think patience on the economy would require the American people first believe the administration has the courage to admit mistakes and course correct. But with Trump rated worse than Biden on the economy by even Fox polls, I don’t think folks have any confidence that’s possible.
