I don’t think it’s alarmist to say that it’s a non-zero possibility, and that many of the events of the last two years are pointing us exactly in that direction. Which maybe is why we NEED it in fictionalized form now, so we can prevent it from happening.

Right now it’s scarier than any fictionalization anyone could muster. If I were writing Cap, I would time travel him 5 years in the future, and we discover that Trump is now President for Life, elections have been eliminated, Congress is no more, and all marginalized groups are living underground.

I’m almost curious to pick up the current Cap comics, seeing as how the America we knew is gone.

I think a different artist could have done a better job drawing the characters on-model. But the writing was great!
