If a large number of complaints about an animated project sound something like “wehh it looks like jоhn K/looks like spumco” you already know exactly where their biases lie. Yeah man keep that attitude up and we’ll be getting soft safe general audiences baby cartoons until the sun explodes

I’d rather more american animation be tasteful and well-made with strong direction while appealing to seth rogan-like adults rather than making more tepid sonixarsneyworks slop aimed at drooling kids who’d get bored and rather watch an ipad anyways

For things to improve and for animation to get better we gotta fund people who actually care about the medium even if they just wanna make a sausage party clone
Improvement takes time and that very much applies to whole entire art forms

As far as I’m concerned america has some “good animated movies” but perfectionistically trying to generate more spiderverses while shunning anything else that seems even a little too risky is still a frustratingly regressive attitude to hold

People hate hearing it but not every “good animated” movie will be a “good” animated movie, and regardless they’re still all equally important to invest time and money into
