I'm not talking about bitlocker in terms of security. I'm saying it's on by default, windows doesn't tell you, doesn't make you save the recovery key. Then invalidates the one in TPM overnight because of an update. And your hard drive is now filled with meaningless encrypted data you can't read.

I think the one that did it for a lotta folks was the bitlocker kerfuffle, if youre not signed in with an MS account, youre SOL. thats your whole C Drive, gone. Nobody's trusting windows after that. Theyre only reinstalling for premiere and valo.

If my surface experience is anything to go by, pretty well as long as you use Plasma. You can cook up a workable setup on other DEs/WMs, but plasma just works.
