Onko sulla hyviä vinkkejä millä ohjelmalla piirtää solmuja (joissa on alku ja loppu)?

Wow! So my wee counterbalance could pull that off! Thanks for the draft!

How many treadles you used to weave this?

Status? Showing off you can "waste" all those hours of work to spin the yarn and make the fringe. Not all parts of clothing have utility meaning, some were just fashion choices. 🤷‍♀️

It is amazing piece of nalbinding history. Apparently there should be similar hat in Leipzig, but none of the museums I contacted recocnized having it. It is also very interesting in the sense, that it combines both compound and simple form of nalbinding at the turn from one majority to another.

Well, my sole reason to visit the Neues Museum was to see a hat, which is currently in display, only due the connect to Georg Schweinfurth. Althought, had it not been in display I would have been able to conduct much better analyzis of it.

I was scolded by one of the volunteers for asking where to find information, they are not there to answer questions, but for security... Yes, why would any visitor want to know more about pieces they are showing with no other information than "Necklace, Greece, 2nd c BCE". 🤷‍♀️

It is rather interesting how different vibe there was in the Neues Museum at the room that was showing the East Germany pieces of Antiquities, and how the Soviets stole this and this many pieces. But it was also very difficult to find information about the pieces in general.

There is very little evidence pre-1800's that there were separate nalbinding needles. Most items done Medieval or before would have been done with similar size needles than sewing was done. Some of oldest pieces could have been done with out a needle, as the end of the fibre would have been stiff.

This type of socks aren't widely present in art. The original ones are cotton, some finer than others, but the fine cotton ones would have been protective more towards the sun and dirt than coldness.

I don't think mine will bloom this winter. I re-potted it in early fall and it seems to have taken offence of it.

Beautifull work! Congratulations on finishing them!
I decided on easy start on the field; baby/toddler socks with 8s & 13r/1" (and didn't quite match that either), and much simpler pattern.

In history of nalbinding this stitch has been used for minimum 8500 years... If it was good enough to our ancestors, shouldn't it be good enough for us too? This is one of the last simple looping features on North Atlantic tradition.

My pleasure! @sigkit.bsky.social 's blog is great source for all nalbinding-y stuff, including the odd local traditions.

This is a form of nalbinding, simple looping to be exact.
