the thing that gut punches me is abusers actively trying to fill the entire social space surrounding a specific field of study or hobby then learning about new friends i make and positioning themselves into their lives so i eventually have to interact with them. insidious bullshit.

i disagree. i don't think those are opposing goals or even an instance where performing one would detract from the other. in fact, i think pushing training while behaving adversarially toward survivors directly hinders credibility and thus reach and effectiveness of training.

i was simply laughing about the two being placed next to each other, one having directly contributed to the other, even with its nominal intention being to prevent it

that's nice in an abstract sense, but the effect, in reality, is major groups within an industry directly supporting abusers even after having been made aware of their abusers while their victims are outright shunned from the industry for speaking out.
