An awful human being, terrible views about geopolitics and Russia. Always found it bizarre that in essence a linguistics professor should be hailed ad the go to guy on all that stuff anyway.

Anyone who is preaching that a population has to protect its cultural integrity by turning away immigrants is no ally of mine. If your culture cannot stand up to other cultures on its own merits, it doesn't deserve to be protected. European culture can.

Yes that was nice. I went back in 08 and stayed in Harlem, a building or three l away from the Apollo Theater. As you say, the attraction has worn off for now

Indeed. As someone who liked going to see friends over there, it’s sad but I’ll somehow manage to live without visiting that festering mess.
