It’s an irreverent tone that was commonplace at the time but is conspicuous by its absence now. The crossover of fanzine producers and programme writers in that era was strong, so this sort of article is by no means an exception (though I thought it exceptional in a different sense).

Having a pop at your own fans, local rivals and punching down at those struggling all in one article is impressive though! Closest we get to that these days is that rather odd Saints fan who writes in Forty-20 but he’s more obsessed with Wire than you are 😂

This is what someone swapped you for a Wigan-Manly programme?!? 😳

Sweet Jesus. There’s not many of them knocking about. A shame it’s glued in (I assume), but a beauty nonetheless.

If there’s a 1926 Championship Final in there, give me a shout 😉

So that’s 14% of the league that have just lazily copied a kit from recent memory rather than bothering to design a new one. Hopefully they’re passing the savings on the fans in the form of cheaper prices, or at least won’t bother bringing out a third kit?

The icons I can live with. The forced, unannounced restart whilst I was neck deep forecasting with half a dozen spreadsheets open, less so. Exacerbated by the upload sticking on 98% for 5 minutes when I needed to join a meeting 😡

…League in the UK is played in a region decimated by over a decade of austerity, in a country struggling to fund essential services, contending with the behemoth of the EPL. Contrast to Aus where the game dominates as the number 1 sport in thriving cosmopolitan cities. There simply is no comparison

For me the only flaw in an otherwise solid (if unspectacular) match presentation. Totally unnecessary - you could see in the crowd reactions to player announcements there was only a slight Leeds bias in the level of support, which was great & as it should be an international level.

Yeah, the coat came off straight after this pic until the second half. The hat wasn't needed either, but I kep it on to avoid any risk of being mistaken for a local ;-)
