That drum velocity thing; is it deliberate on the part of the band, do they lack subtlety, or does it suggest they recorded the drums first and the producer made the parts quiet later and didn't bother rerecording the drums? Or is it just the genre? Tbf that's how I used to program my drums.

Been listening to Kerrang radio again and one thing I notice, besides that they mostly play what can only be described as hardcore pop punk, is that the drums are always maximum velocity, even in the quiet parts.
