And I see that the child didn't remember his own name correctly.

Not surprising for a 5 year old.

Ammi is pronouncing Saroo's name differently than he does...

It is good to see that his Australian parents didn't change Saroo's name. He was able to keep a bit of his identity.

Working in a public library, and being around so many unattended children as well as helping children register for Summer Reading programs and the like...

Way too many little kids don't know the government names of their parents, where they live, or a telephone number.

"Ammi" means mommy

Like many small children, this youngster doesn't know where he lives or details about his family.

Little children have difficulty understanding the vastness of the country/world. This little boy demonstrates that he doesn't quite comprehend how far he has gone from Guddu and his momma. Calling for them at the train station he ended up is heartbreaking.

This movie does an excellent job in showing the terror and isolation of that small child. To have the train whistle drowning out the screaming...

1) I appreciated Robert Hughes' The Fatal Shore for Australian history. I have William Dalrymple's The Golden Road: How Ancient India Transformed the World in my TBR pile.
2) Macaroni & cheese, roasted broccoli
