I’m barely surviving myself. Barely can keep a roof over my own head. I’m writing you to just say I can hardly wait for Mamdani’s Community Safety division is set up. I didn’t want the NYPD involved.

This issue wasn’t for the NYPD to handle and I feared they would’ve been put in the foster care system or even worse, deported by ICE. There was no one else to call. I felt SO guilty continuing on my way when I may have ruined these kids’ lives. Even more so. But what was I to do?

The children (approx. 6yrs and 14yrs) ran off but I followed them telling the operator what they were wearing and where they were headed. I was relentless but ultimately left them alone.

I am SO distraught. Did I make their lives easier or harder? What should I have done?
