I don't think this is what you meant to say, but what you did say was that pedantic correctness is the least valuable thing in technical policymaking, and that does not seem correct. You should reread my phrasing.

You don't have to parade how stupid you are, you can just shut up. Lots of other people understood this basic point. The reason you think it's confusing is because you didn't get it at first.

This isn't to say that I think religion is bad or useless. But I think the central claim that the value of religion is that it provides a cosmological framework for morality should be examined. I think people can see themselves in a moral world without seeing that fact as significant.

When I say religion gives no moral clarity, that's actually too broad of a claim. What I mean is that the architecture of heaven-and-hell, spiritual punishments, etc., that has no inherent force. The idea that you're going to hell if you sin doesn't alter people's behavior.
