if you start with paper designs and scale models first, you can work out proportions and sizes and whatnot before you start sawing wood. or you could be like me (a dummy)

here's an Irish chair I made a few years ago for my mom. probably the simplest stick chair format but still comfortable. usually has a sheepskin on it but her dog chews on that

awhile back i ordered one (1) set of glass standoffs for a (still incomplete) furniture project and since then i've gotten weekly updates on the latest innovations in the standoff and signpost industry. i haven't unsubscribed because it's kind of interesting
