I’ve been screaming this from the rooftops, but if you want to see into the future of how Trump wants to corrupt the government, read more about what he did to Title IX.

It was one of his most successful policy shifts first term and it was the practice round for everything he’s doing now.

Don’t be embarrassed! I love that you remember the post!

And truly, there were so many of us. It could have been any of the other incredible survivor advocates too.

Me! I was one of the many people who posted that.

This is exactly it.

Lots of people who care about taking down Trump, but actually couldn’t care less about sexual violence. And it shows because they keep platforming rape myths that actually minimize the violence.

I wish we were going about this whole thing in a way that upended it.
November 14, 2025 at 4:57 PM
It’s also how perpetrators talk about other perpetrators’ rape histories.

A big part of the dynamic is that they can weaponize someone else’s transgressions if they amass enough power to do so. But in those cases, they’re reentrenching a patriarchal status quo—not upending it.
November 14, 2025 at 4:57 PM
This is exactly the problem. They’re using victims like political objects—and that’s a replication of the objectification in the sexual assault itself. Centering the perpetrator hurts the victim.

It’s wild the chasm between the U.S. and other countries. I do a decent amount of work across borders and we are so far behind, (intentionally) falling farther behind every day.

Thanks! This isn’t quite the page I was looking for, but I appreciate it.

And that type of abuse is MUCH more common than the stranger in a van stereotype people have in mind when they conflate CSA with pedophilia.

It isn’t minimizing sexual violence to recognize the different types of perpetrators. Quite the opposite.

The replies I’m getting on this thread are wild, so let me clear something up:

If people believe only pedophiles sexually abuse children, they’re much more likely to turn their back on a victim abused by someone like their father.
November 14, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Your entire thread promotes a stranger in the bushes version of child sexual abuse that is the absolute rarest manifestation of that violence.

I’m trying to get people like you to realize the problem is a lot bigger than you think.
November 14, 2025 at 4:20 PM
It’s actually the protection of victims whose perpetrators aren’t pedophiles.

A lot of victims will be disbelieved when their perpetrator is someone like their father or grandfather because “he’s obviously attracted to adults.”
November 14, 2025 at 4:20 PM
So actually, it does help the victims for people to better understand the violence. Because every rape myth is weaponized by people who would rather turn their backs on victims to maintain the status quo.
November 14, 2025 at 4:13 PM
I’m saying that we miss a lot of child sexual abuse if we assume that type of violence is only perpetrated by pedophiles.

In reality, the most common perpetrators are family members like fathers. And victims don’t deserve to be disbelieved because “he’s married to an adult!”

I will be using this so much. Thank you!
