If you are a queer Muslim, know that your existence is valid and your faith is yours. If you are an ally, make space for queer Muslims in your communities, challenge harmful narratives, and ensure their stories are heard.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
It means listening when queer Muslims speak about their experiences of exclusion, and standing alongside them when they demand change.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
Acknowledging queer Muslims means recognising that faith and queerness are not opposites. It means creating communities where people are not asked to choose between their religion and their identity.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
We are in community with other Muslims as closeted people, and we are in really community with other queer Muslims as full people.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
We build spaces where our faith and queerness are honoured together, where we can speak openly about the harm we face, and where we can celebrate the joy of living authentically.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
The experiences of queer Muslims are not just personal struggles - they are systemic forms of exclusion and they are a symptom of something far deeper. But queer Muslims continue to resist.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
We face violence, 'corrective' punishments, rejection. For the vast majority of us who remain closeted out of fear, we live in secret. But we are here!
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
The reality is that queer Muslims face unique pressures: for those of us who are brave enough to be out, we are told we cannot enter mosques or madrasas, we are excluded from family gatherings, we are treated as if our faith is invalid because of how we love.
December 13, 2025 at 12:03 PM
Queer Muslims are part of every community. We pray, we fast during Ramadan, we celebrate Eid, and we also love as we are.

Our foundation provides specialised support for those experiencing honour-based abuse related to sexuality or gender identity.

We understand the complex family dynamics involved and the cultural contexts that can make escape particularly challenging.

Many victims struggle to recognise these actions as abuse, having normalised them as cultural or religious expectations.

Others fear reporting will escalate the danger or permanently sever family ties.
December 8, 2025 at 12:02 PM
This abuse takes many forms: physical violence, psychological manipulation, confinement, digital surveillance, confiscation of documents, forced marriage.

The trauma is compounded by its source - those who should provide love and protection becoming perpetrators of harm.

Share one sentence that names gaslighting and demands better language from spiritual leaders.

Post a short line describing a harmful phrase you heard and replace it with what you needed instead, tag two allies, and use #PastoralCareThatCares.
December 6, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Calling out gaslighting is not an attack on faith but a boundary for safety: you're allowed to demand transparent, trauma-aware pastoral practices and refuse guidance that minimizes harm. Holding leaders accountable protects those already vulnerable.
