Ukraine’s animal protection laws don't just apply to cats and dogs. 🐄 In Zhytomyr, police have opened a case over alleged abuse of cows, showing that, under 299 of the Criminal Code, cruelty to farm animals is also a crime.

Last year, the Step shelter's dogs lived in damp sheds and rundown kennels.
This year, thanks to our supporters, many now have warm, insulated doghouses on 'Naturewatch Street' & more homes are being built!

💔 Heartbreaking - 15+ dogs poisoned in Rivne, Ukraine. Police are investigating.
We don’t know why someone would do something so cruel, but, in 2021, #Law2351 banned the mass euthanasia of stray animals. When caught, those responsible face up to 8 years in prison.

🙌 Good news! Lionesses Sima and Simba are safe after recently escaping a private zoo's improper conditions in Ukraine.
Thanks to UAnimals, they’re currently at an animal rescue centre. An animal cruelty investigation under Article 299 of the Criminal Code has been launched.

2024 animal experiments statistics have been released. 🐭

The delayed statistics released today have shown a mere 1% decrease in procedures carried out compared to 2023, confirming the UK Government have yet to make real change.
