Interesting, thanks! And presumably circumcision was already practiced by Samaritans, so 'Torah enforcement' must have looked slightly different in this case, right?

Many thanks Yonatan, this is fascinating. Do you think 'Judaisation' is a useful way to describe this policy? And I'm also interested in how you think circumcision fits into this - could this be one reason why we focus on the Judaisation of the Idumaeans and Ituraeans but not the Samaritans?
