Carter was a better president than we gave him credit for. And no, my opinion of his presidency is not biased by his humanitarian work. But boy howdy, do I wish we had more presidents and former presidents like him.

Even ignoring the um-actually-ing of my own opinion, I still think its crazy Carter's actual presidency was thought of poorly. He focused on human rights abroad and made some of the earliest policy steps to move to renewable energy.

But some just remember that he wore a sweater.

The song is clearly about a pagan ritual interrupted, where the pagan supplicants pretend it's actually a Christmas celebration. The mentions of Christmas are intentionally poorly sung (I.e. the kids allegedly practicing that bit) to achieve that effect.
