4th Read - 12th prompt = Genre Defining

This is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Blisteringly honest, darkly comic, sincere, based on Kay's diary as he worked 97 hour weeks as an NHS junior doctor. Eye-opening jawdropping, painfully funny, deserves all the rewards it got

3rd Read - 48th Prompt = Related to the word 'Nemesis'

Arms of Nemesis by Steven Saylor
🌟 🌟 🌟
Rome, warts & all, as Gordianus must find a murderer to save the lives of 100 slaves who will die if he doesn't. I saw the red herring coming, but a well plotted, enjoyable mystery.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Brilliant, clever, pacy, awe-inspiring Sci-Fi. Ryland is a really relatable genius, the only hope for the survival of billions. A ripping read, full of twists, turns & dilemmas.

Following the investigation of Aquarius of the aquaduct when the water becomes sulfurous & runs dry, we viscerally feel the awe & approaching doom as Vesuvius blows her top

This is amazing! When I studied #archaeology & celtic civilization in the 90s, it was speculated that any mythological cat references were late prehistory/early medieval based on domestic cats! But look! We had native wildcats! #IrishMyths #Cats #IrishHistory
Wildcat bones dating back over 5,500 years ago have been uncovered following an excavation at a cave in the Burren.

It’s the earliest directly dated wildcat ever found in Ireland.

For the first time, archaeologists can say with certainty that European wildcats lived in prehistoric Ireland.

The world is poorer this evening without Sr Stan.

If Pope Leo XIV is looking for a candidate for sainthood, here was a living saint who dedicated her life to the homeless.

Happy Samhain. Have a spookily wonderful #Halloween and don't forget to leave a saucer of cream out for the Sidhe.

Am only catching up now on the animal cruelty story about FG candidate for President, Heather Humphreys.

She sent a letter to the Dept of Agriculture, about a live legal case regarding ‘stomach churning’ animal cruelty, on behalf of the farmer involved. The case was then dropped.

Absolutely fantastic episode. So interesting and relevant. I can't wait for part2!
Seriously though, what's the deal with raw milk? Why is everyone talking about it? Join us for part 1 of our two part series where we, too, talk about it. This week we dive into what the world looked like before pasteurization, how it came to be, and the growth of the anti-pasteurization movement.

Also Jacques Villeneuve's commentary for #SkySports was interesting and informative. Hopefully #SkySportsF1 will have him again this year.

Just home after a fab few days in Venice & #Treviso
✈️🗺
Treviso was a joy, relaxed walkable; canals, churches, piazzas, town walls, tiramisu (delicious at Camelia Bakery), Veneto spritzs & friendly people who helped with my smattering of Italian.
+ Yes, you can feel seasick on a Venetian gondola 🫢😄
