Also, I often post about vamps #vampiresweekly
Devendra P. Varma, in The Vampire in Legend, Lore, and Literature, records a chilling 18th c. case from Sikkim:

Princess Pedi Wangmo bled her half-brother, Chador Namgyal, to death, then drank his blood.

Some believed she returned as a vampire after execution 🩸

The only war I want to post about:

In the Bashkir epic Ural-Batyr, the hero battles the evils of the world – so many that their fallen bodies become the land beneath our feet.

The tale reminds us that nature is sacred, and it's our duty to protect it and all living creatures.

The spooky season is here, and I’ve been summoned by brilliant @bunikanovel.com 🦇

How’s everyone doing?

It’s not easy coming back to social media after such a long break, but I’m trying!
Still drained from the endless PhD grind, but now I refuse to let it consume my life.
So… bear with me, please!

According to Lewis Spence’s ‘A Water-Demon from Leith’, Shellycoat is a water monster, capable of extreme violence. It’s known for wearing a coat made of shells, which makes a clattering noise as it approaches.

In the lore of the Buryats, Ada is an evil entity that manifests itself in the form of a one-eyed cat.

This malevolent creature resides in basements and abandoned places. But if you're not careful enough, it can follow you home and suffocate your baby at night.

Among the Slavs, there exists a belief that the soul of a witch can leave her body while she is asleep, taking on the form of an animal or even a weather event.

Such a soul escapes through a chimney at night, only to return with the first sunrise rays.

The Kitska Zhonka, or the maiden of River Kitsa, is a female water spirit from the Kola Peninsula.

She is known for her fish tail and demands for human sacrifices.

In return, she offers fishermen a bountiful catch, as she has dominion over all the fish in the river.

It’s a bookstore that sells only Japanese, Korean and Chinese literature.

I’m totally in love with their atmosphere 🖤 and the fact that they are open until 10 pm.

Definitely my new fav vampire novel.

Tbh, whenever I read Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s books, I always feel the urge to scream how much I love her style.
What a brilliant author she is!

Some of the Nogais believed that when an evil person died, their soul would transform into a cat.

So whenever someone with a notorious reputation passed away, all the cats in the village had to be locked in.

In East Slavic lore, the drowned emerge from their wet graves during summer nights to dry off under the moonlight.

This is the reason for the taboo against saying something like "the night is so light, I can see everything".

In East Slavic lore, hair/fur contains one’s soul.

It was customary for farmers to make a deal with Leshy (the forest lord): they promised to give him a "one-furred" cow, which referred to the animal's soul, and in return, he would spare the rest of their livestock.

Selma is a Norwegian cousin of Nessie.

This cryptid inhabits Seljordsvannet, where it is reportedly described by locals as a massive, snake-like creature with glowing eyes.

The first encounter with Selma was registered in 1750 🐍

Because of the way @bsky.app treats women and our bodies and because it works properly like only 2 hours a day in my neck of the woods now, I re-created my account on X.

Follow me, if you like x.com/n_stgermain?...

It’s empty but if that shitty treatment continues, I will start posting there.

In the lore of the Udmurts, Obyda is a demonic forest woman with the ability to suffocate solitary travelers.

Her ankles are said to be sprained – a characteristic that signifies her connection to the other world.

The Faroese sleep paralysis demon is known as Marra.

Marra sometimes takes the shape of a beautiful woman. Yet not only causes she nightmares but also has a more sinister habit – she counts the teeth of her victims.

If she completes this task before dawn, you die in their sleep.
