#FindsFriday 🏺 #archaeology #iran this beautiful conical jasper conglomerate beaker with a bronze pin in its base was recovered as part of the excavations of Hasanlu, Iran in the 1960s. Dating to the 9th Century BC. Now at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, 65.163.51.

#findsfriday 🏺 Not quite 5 gold rings but 4 fabulous ones from the Griffin Warrior grave at Pylos. Of Minoan style if not origin, these are part of a large assemblage of semi precious stones, precious metals and ivory found deposited with a male in his mid 30s. #archaeology #prehistory #mycenae

#thiccthursday this seated, corpulent, nude lady was found by James Mellaart in Çatalhöyük in 1961. Likely c.8000 years old. The head of the woman and the cat to the right (orange) are modern reconstruction. Use and meaning up for debate. Museum of Anatolian Studies, Ankara.

As it’s Factory Friday…. This is a Hittite drinking vessel dating to c.1450-1300BC. The cuff scene shows the “Great King Tudhaliya” with musicians at the altar of the storm god. MFA Boston accession no. 2004.2230 #findsfriday 🏺 #archaeology

I’ve seen a few shares of the gorgeous Guennol lioness but don’t often see this similar lovely piece. A composite of chlorite and magnesite. Mid 3rd Millennium BCE. Possibly from south east Iran. In the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait; accession no. LNS 339 S.
