Yeah. It's a good shorthand for imperial measurements. Math wise, you do have to use them in complex equations where rounding in step 3 of 8 would drastically change the solution.

I worked on heavy industrial equipment for a couple of years, so all our tools were metric. I can't really remember using fractions for anything. Did in machining, but at the size and accuracy we were at, everything was in decimals, or converted to decimals.

There was an issue that was around for years before Google finally updated the firmware to address it but it was an issue with phone calls dropping.
