they're a new publisher and their first novel's translation left a lot to be desired, but they did not respond well to criticism and threw the translators under the bus. so a lot of people are turned off from buying from them. unfortunately they licensed quite a few popular titles including Approach

Meatbun's works have the perfect recipe to take off in international fandom: historical settings, xianxia, indulgent yaoi shenanigans. Her works also have a reputation for angst and dark themes but imo they're relatively mild for the genre. Which I think is a good thing as too dark can be alienating

A lot of romance-focused danmei novels can get quite smutty which is probably why you don't often see them get licensed 💁‍♀️

If you can't tell (from my pfp) The Approach is one of my favourite things ever. I even have merch of it sitting on my office desk lol. Hope more international fans read it and it becomes at least mildly popular like Tyrants Pet Fish. Shame that the publisher who licensed it is a bit controversial.

Yeah that's a pretty bold choice for publisher to do that for BL and I hope they don't walk back on it. Like with qjj I've never seen a BL with the lesbian side couple on the cover.

The conversation is extra different because one side has canon bed dynamics while the other doesn't. I'm basic so I do tend to follow canon, but if you wanna switch things up, then I'd assume tagging it would make it easier to find.
