And here’s the big factor, the conferences ( who btw run the playoff) don’t want to punish teams for playing in the conference title game. They still make money off it (at least the SEC does) and they don’t want teams to view it as a huge risk

Yes, that’s why it makes no sense that ESPN would be against Notre Dame. You also realize that the 6 win bowl rule was put in place cause of Notre Dame ( they went 5-6 one year and got invited to the fiesta bowl)
