Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

Not that I question whether HD has been complicit in ICE raids, but you’d think that the presence of ready workers on site would increase sales, and that helping the disappearance of those workers would lead to a drop in sales. So they’re also idiots, I guess.
